Diploma Description:
The Diploma focuses on the primary production industry (crops and livestock), while at the same time exploring skills required for employment throughout the supply chain. Although many of our students have farming backgrounds and some will return to the farm upon graduation to partner within the family business; many find careers throughout the sub-sector industries from input supply to transportation, food safety and inspection, to processing, warehousing, procurement and marketing to retail. If you are interested in a hands-on exciting career in the Agri-food industry, check out our program and become part of the University of Guelph experience. |

Features:
- The University of Guelph prides itself as a leader in education and research. Here at the Kemptville Campus, we expect no less. Local research focuses on dairy, field crops, environment, food safety and economics. Students benefit from this research activity having access to soil, crops and livestock right on the campus, and from having the experts doing the teaching.
- Being located in a farming community just south of Ottawa gives us the opportunity to visit many farming, processing, and retail businesses; and avails to us many federal government specialists who guest speak during our lectures.
- Students have the opportunity to complete other industry certifications such as the Grower Pesticide Safety Course, Livestock Medicine’s Course and Nutrient Management Certification.
- Further education opportunities exist for life-long learning at the University of Guelph and other institutions.
- Students have the opportunity to develop a leadership activity or project into a credit course. With Experiential Learning, the credit must be student initiated and developed under the supervision of a faculty member.

"With increasing concerns and regulations with regards to the environment, such as the Nutrient Management Act, it is essential that farmers and agricultural workers are aware of these impactions on agriculture. It is one of my goals at the Kemptville Campus to ensure that our graduates are prepared for these current and future challenges that they will encounter in a career in agriculture. Together, we are building a strong and sustainable agricultural sector in Ontario."
