IT Services and Computer Labs

Kemptville Campus has two up-to-date, well-equipped computer labs.   The labs are running Microsoft Windows XP Pro for an operating system.  Other software on the machines include Microsoft Office 2007, Corel WordPerfect X3, Simply Accounting 2009, Quickbooks 2010, AgExpert Analyst, Mozilla Firefox,  as well as many other standard applications.  Both computer labs have printing facilities.  The library is also equipped with virtually the same computer equipment and software which makes it easy for students to work in the computer labs or in the library. The computer labs and the library give you full unlimited internet access with the use of your login ID. The IT staff are located within the same building as the computer labs and are available to assist with any computer related problems. The computer labs are open from 8 am to 9 pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday.  Saturday from 1 pm until 5 pm.  Both computer labs, as well as most buildings on campus have wireless internet access.


IT Services & Hardware Requirements for the Student Residences

The Kemptville Campus residences have been cabled in order to accommodate High Speed Network (HSN) connections. This service will give you access to the Campus network including Internet and webmail access.  All of the residence rooms have a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone.  Virtually all of the residences have wireless internet access.


Computer Requirements in Residence:
  • PC with a functioning ethernet network card or
  • Wireless adapter card - supported protocol types include A, G or N
  • Up to date copy of anti-virus software, we offer anti-virus software at no extra cost under our site license
  • Up to date Windows operating system patches
  • A username and password are required in order to access the internet in residence - hardwired or wireless
  • Note:  Network patch cables are provided in each room for the hardwired connection
  • Note:  Limited temporary access is granted to computers that do not have up to date anti-virus and up to date windows patches in order to allow for updates

A limited number of RENTAL computer's are also available through IT Services. Please contact us for prices. All software and hardware that are required to connect to the network will be provided as part of the installation costs.
