Kemptville Campus Library
Electronic Resources
|
The McLaughlin Library, University of Guelph supports research, teaching and learning both locally at the University of Guelph and to their outlying campuses by providing high-quality information resources and services. We're pleased to say that our students are able to take full advantage of what they have to offer including the following e-resources:
- Accessing our Book & AV Library Catalogue (Trellis only)
- Journal Indexes
A journal index is the most efficient way to find articles on a topic. It is a topic-searchable database of information on articles from journals, magazines, newspapers, and some book chapters.
- E-Journals
A journal is a subject-based publication released periodically. It contains articles written by researchers and often "peer-reviewed" by others.
- E-Books
Check out the NetLibrary and MyLibrary e-book collections. Both include collections of hundreds of online books in a variety of subject areas.
- Electronic Resource Collection
This is U.of G Library's directory of reference web sites. Answer quick factual questions using our collection of online dictionaries, encyclopedias, company specs, phone books, style guides, country guides, and more. Help sheets for some examples of electronic resources are:
- Racer
Use these services to obtain items NOT found in our catalogue. Racer lets you search and request items from other libraries. For instructions on how to use Racer, clickA link to printer-friendly instructions can be found about half way down the page.
- Create Bibliographies with RefWorks
RefWorks is a bibliographic management service that will collect, store and organize citations you've found to journal articles, books, web sites and other sources. Save time with RefWorks: it will create correctly formatted bibliographies and manuscripts automatically to the format you specify.
Note: There is an excellent tutorial within Refworks under Help.
These help sheets are intended to be easily printed quick notes.
- Ask For Help Using "ask Us" or "ask On" Services.
"Ask Us" services facilitate students/staff to request assistance and instruction in finding information. Librarians will recommend sources for research, suggest research strategies and help users navigate a wide array of electronic and print resources using a range of in-person, on phone, chat, IM, and one-on-one consultations.
- About "ask On" services: Chat live with askON's librarians and library associates and get help finding research and information. askON is a live, chat-based information and research service offered by post-secondary libraries in the province.
